Job Summary This full-time (30 hours per week) Adult Day Care Assistant role is an on-site position. The Day Out Assistant supports members of our Day Out program in a group setting by assisting with daily activities, social programs, and therapeutic exercises that promote engagement and well-being. The Day Out Assistant plays an important role in a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment for older adults participating in LARSO's Day Out program. Working under the direction of the Day Out Coordinator, the assistant helps facilitate daily structured activities, morning and afternoon snack preparation, group exercises, dining support (lunch), and general program logistics while ensuring the safety and well-being of all members. Responsibilities Member Safety & Care Monitor member safety continuously and communicate effectively with team members when leaving the workspace. Daily Program Operations & Activities Welcome members upon arrival and assist with initial settling-in tasks and transit support. Maintain and update daily program schedules, menus, and routines on displayed boards. Handle basic food and beverage preparation while completing routine temperature safety checks. Lead and facilitate scheduled group activities, crafts, games, and light wellness programs. Prepare materials and set up the environment for scheduled media or entertainment activities. Dining & Food Handling Assist with mealtime operations, including food service, dining setup, and cleanup. Adhere to established hygiene and food handling safety standards. Sanitation & Facility Maintenance Perform daily sanitization and cleaning of common surfaces, fixtures, and equipment. Handle general kitchen maintenance, floor care, and waste disposal. Execute regular weekly housekeeping and maintenance duties. Carry out periodic upkeep tasks, including inventory checks and laundry. Qualifications & Requirements Ability to support physical mobility, complete basic facility tasks, and handle program materials. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a welcoming approach when interacting with members. Effective communication with members, families, staff, and external contacts. High level of situational awareness and attention to overall environment safety. Background or training in caregiving, memory care, or supporting individuals with varied physical and cognitive needs. Demonstrated reliability and commitment to individualized, respectful support. Prior experience in elder care, social services, or related community support settings (preferred). Relevant safety certifications (CPR/First Aid) or ability to acquire them upon hire (at LARSO's expense). Compliance with standard health screenings and facility health requirements (a negative TB test is required upon hire). Understanding of organizational policies, safety guidelines, and confidentiality standards. Educational background in line with position requirements, with relevant specialized training preferred. Valid food handler certification or willingness to obtain (at LARSO's expense). Other relevant training and/or coursework as necessary. Provide support with mobility devices and maintain clear, safe walkways. Follow established facility security and safety protocols.
