The MA is responsible to assist in the examination and treatment of patients delivering high quality care and services, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. ADVANTAGES OF WORKING FOR UNLV HEALTH
Clinic Hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM (Actual scheduled hours may vary depending on business need). 12 Full-Day and 2 Half-Day Paid Holidays per year, starting with your first day of employment. 20 PTO days per year. 3% 401K Contribution, even if you do not contribute (after 90 days of employment). Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits that start the first of the month following your start date.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalency. Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program Required.
QUALIFICATIONS
One year medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting preferred. Current, nationally recognized Medical assistant Certification or Registration required or obtained within 90 days of employment. Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of employment. Basic computer literacy required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Good communication and customer service skills required. Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA guidelines. Knowledge of sterilization and disinfection procedures. Knowledge of HIPAA laws and ability to adhere to confidentiality policies. Knowledge of current medical assistant best practices and procedures including EKG and basic drugs. Knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology and medical office procedures. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills. Working knowledge of patient management software and basic Microsoft office products. EPIC Preferred. Ability to identify and apply proper communication methods in patient instruction. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent telephone and customer service skills. Skills to implement good safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed. Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of a medical assistant to provide ongoing patient care. Strong attention to detail skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods. May include performing repetitive tasks. May include working with challenging patients and clients. May include lifting up to 25 pounds. Ability to use logic reasoning for simple and complex problem solving. Occasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
