Job Description
Child Life Assistant Renown Health United States, Nevada, Reno 1155 Mill Street (Show on map) Jul 31, 2026 Position Purpose This position assists in implementing Child Life services under the supervision of a Child Life Specialist. The Child Life Assistant assists in providing diversional activities that meet the developmental and social needs of the pediatric patient. Nature and Scope 1. Coordinates with Child Life Specialist to plan and implement age appropriate activities. 2. Provides a safe therapeutic play environment for the pediatric patient. 3. Cleans and sanitizes toys and equipment to ensure ongoing safety of patients and others. 4. Provides recommendations regarding acquisition and/or replacement of play equipment and toys. 5. Maintains playroom, teen room, and other areas of Children's Hospital, to include cleaning, organizing, stocking, and equipment checks. 6. Supervision of children's playrooms. 7. Plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates therapeutic play activities under the direction of assigned Child Life Specialist. 8. Assists in the planning and organization of various Holidays, celebrations, and special events. 9. Plans and assists in coordinating a variety of special projects and events, under the direction of assigned Child Life Specialist. 10. Facilitate community group visits, tours, and other activities as needed. 11. Coordinates with Child Life Specialist regarding observation of specific patients in playroom/teen room and/or at the bedside. Communicates these observations, as well as other pertinent observations, to Child Life Specialist. 12. Trains, orients, supervises, motivates and supports volunteers. Delegates duties to volunteers during and after assigned shift. 13. Provides information regarding patient and family needs to volunteers. 14. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested. This position does provide patient care.
