Early Intervention Mentor Grade:
Business Grade 8 | BG-8 Tulsa Public Schools' existing salary schedules provide career increment adjustments based on education/experience and/or years of creditable service. The Early Intervention Mentor serves as a year-round behavioral support leader, providing expert coaching, planning, and professional development to strengthen school-based capacity in behavior intervention. This role supports the implementation of standardized Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), while guiding teams in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices. The Early Intervention Mentor helps ensure students' behavioral needs are met proactively and equitably, reducing lost instructional time and improving outcomes districtwide.Key Functions:
- Coaches and supports school teams in implementing schoolwide and tiered positive behavior supports
- Supports the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Develops and delivers professional learning on classroom management, positive behavior support, and cultural competency
- Models and observes positive classroom management techniques in the classroom
- Collaborates with MTSS teams, teachers, and administrators to identify and support students needing behavior intervention
- Collects and analyzes behavioral data to inform plans and evaluate results
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in social work, psychology, child development, special education, or a closely related field
Experience:
- Three (3) years' work experience in education, social work, or mental health
Licenses and Certifications:
- Hold a valid Oklahoma Teacher's Certification and maintain it throughout employment preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Sound knowledge of child development and behavior modification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness and ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, leaders, parents, students, and district personnel
- Expertise in working with teams and individuals to develop and implement schoolwide and individual positive behavior support plans
- Ability to communicate with at-risk students
- Ability to de-escalate heightened student behavior and emotions
- Open to change and applies critical thinking while developing solutions based on new guidelines, methods, techniques, and technologies
- Ability to manage both up and down and create buy-in from individuals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds for new ideas and approaches
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
