Job Description
We are expanding services in Clackamas County . Schedules available Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm (PT/FT). Northwest Habilitation Services of Portland partners with individuals experiencing persistent mental illness, helping them build confidence and daily living skills. This is not a caregiver role. As a Direct Support Specialist , you'll guide clients through structured skill‑building activities. What We Teach Our SEEDs framework focuses on goal‑setting, engagement, routine‑building, and planning. DSS staff coach clients in areas such as: Personal hygiene reminders Basic housekeeping Laundry skills Cooking and meal planning Shopping for groceries Managing money Using calendars and schedules Safety awareness Social interaction Public transportation All services follow a person‑centered PCSP plan tailored to each client's needs. Staff also assist clients in connecting with community resources like food banks and medical appointments. Documentation accuracy and confidentiality are required. Qualifications Must be 18 or older High school diploma or GED Background check clearance Driver's license and reliable vehicle preferred Minimum 15‑hour weekly commitment Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, bending, and carrying up to 20 lbs
