Job Description

Description Are you passionate about helping young children build strong social-emotional skills? Do you enjoy being part of a team that makes a lasting difference in children's lives? If so, we'd love to have you on our team as a Behavioral Health Assistant ! In this role, you'll be a key part of the classroom environment—supporting children, collaborating with staff, and helping create a positive, nurturing space where every child can learn and thrive. What You'll Do Support children's social-emotional development by using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) techniques. Plan and lead PBIS-based activities that help children learn skills like emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive interactions. Provide one-on-one behavioral support to children displaying challenging behaviors. Collaborate with classroom staff to develop and implement individualized behavior plans. Participate in weekly team meetings to review progress and identify new strategies to support children's success. Attend PBIS staff meetings, trainings, and monthly team meetings. Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families. Keep PBIS materials and equipment organized and inventoried. Communicate regularly with the Mental Health Manager. Serve as a positive advocate for Head Start in the community. What We're Looking For A passion for early childhood development and behavioral support. A positive attitude and willingness to learn new techniques and strategies. Physical Requirements To ensure success in the classroom environment, candidates must be able to: Lift up to 50 lbs . Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-2:00 PM + 2 additional hour/week (29.5 hours/week)
Program Year:
August-June Position Type:
Part-time, Non-Exempt, Not Eligible for Benefits Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of paid experience working with preschool-aged children. Behavioral health training and/or experience preferred. Salary Description $14.99-17.52/hr based on education & experience
