Northeastern York School District Position Summary Under the guidance of professional staff, provides instructional, physical, emotional and behavioral support to students, including those with special needs and/or Individualized Educational Programs (IEP). The incumbent assists with lesson plan implementation, student supervision, and managing classroom behavior. This position may be assigned to either special education ( Life Skills Support, Autistic Support, Emotional Support, or Learning Support ) or general education classrooms. Responsibilities Provide instructional support to students under the direction of teachers and professional staff. Assist with implementing lesson plans, classroom activities, and student learning goals. Support students with academic, physical, emotional, social, and behavioral needs. Assist with student supervision throughout the school day, including classroom activities, transitions, and other school routines. Help promote a safe, structured, and positive learning environment. Support classroom behavior strategies and interventions as directed by professional staff. Encourage student independence, participation, and engagement. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to support student success. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with students and staff. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with children, students with disabilities, education, childcare, behavioral support, or related fields is preferred but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patient, dependable, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to support students with a variety of learning, developmental, and behavioral needs. Must be able to obtain all required background clearances and meet Northeastern York School District employment requirements.
