McKeesport, PA Job Details Full-time $18.19 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications BLS Certification Full Job Description UPMC McKeesport Hospital is searching for a Student Behavioral Associate to work casual hours supporting our Behavioral Health Units! If you're a current full-time student looking to gain experience in your field, this role is for you! Work occasional 8-hour shifts each week with start time options between 6:30am-10:30pm. You'll be gaining exposure to behavioral and mental health patients while working on the front lines of Life Changing Medicine. The employee in the Student Behavioral Associate position assists in the provision of medical and psychiatric patient care. You'll receive practical experience relevant to your formal education track and career goals. Minimum of working 8 hours in a 2-week period is required.Responsibilities:
Assists the nurse and other direct care staff in the provision of physical care and clinical intervention as assessed by client needs. Learns and utilizes up-to-date technology and practices in the delivery of patient care. Encourages patients to perform or assists them in the performance of activities of daily living. Documents in the medical record according to established policies. Takes initiative to ensure that unit environment is maintained. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and other activities. Attend a minimum of 1 unit based of Institute wide in-service yearly. Maintains on-going communication with the treatment team and charge nurse regarding observations of patients? medical and behavioral symptoms and the care provided. Current full-time enrollment in an accredited school in healthcare related baccalaureate (Psychology, Counseling, Biology, or related field) OR Current full-time enrollment in a diploma, associate, or bachelor level nursing program. Must be available and agree to work weekends and holidays. May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed. In the course of duties may be asked to distribute medications to the nurse at the bedside. Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. BLS due within 30 days of hire. CCMC due within 60 days of hire.
