Day Treatment Mental Health Technician Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma; valid Alabama Driver's license and acceptable driving record required; First Aid/CPR certification; experience working with people living with a serious mental illness is preferred. Primary job functions and performance expectations: A. Learns and utilizes Central Alabama Wellness policies and Procedures. B. Implements, and maintains Rehabilitative Day Treatment Program. 1. Schedules groups and program activities according to Department of Mental Health and Medicaid regulations. 2. Assures continuity of services for persons coming into and/or leaving the Day Treatment Program according to accepted professional standards. 4. Coordinates Day Treatment Services with all other programs/services. 5. Develops, updates and facilitates use of curriculum-based daily lesson plans. 6. Provide direct classroom instruction to participants of the Day Treatment program. C. Provides direct services to clients and their families. 1. Provides individual and group activities, according to DMH Administrative Code for Rehabilitative Day Treatment. 2. Ensures follow-up of absences on a daily basis. 3. Maintains and documents family contacts as appropriate. 4. Documents in a timely, concise, and accurate manner in accordance with Department of Mental Health and Medicaid regulations. 5. Responds to emergencies as needed. Assures consumer safety and welfare through adherence to Emergency and Safety Policies and Procedures. D. Maintains and provides liaison and education for the Center, other community agencies, and the general public. 1. Presents information in an effective and professional manner. 2. Gives presentations, which are accurately targeted toward the audience. 3. Effectively serves as a positive advocate for Mental Health services and the seriously mentally ill. E. Completes other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
