Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit / Patient Care Technician (PCT) Patient Care Tech (PCT) | Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) | Nurse Assistant (NA) | Tech Come to Baxter Health and join the mental health team. We have the privilege of being able to provide excellent care to patients during acute mental health crisis. We enjoy our jobs and love to have fun. We are professional, respectful, always working toward uplifting each other, and ensuring we do our very best every day. Our Adult Behavioral Health is a 16-bed unit for patients age 18 and above, while our Geriatric Behavioral Health is a 19-bed unit for patients age 55 and above. Having both behavioral units, we are able to place patients on the most appropriate unit based on each individual s need and primary diagnosis of mental illness requiring acute inpatient treatment. Patients are required to attend individual and group psychotherapy, activity therapy, and daily visits with providers. Our behavioral unit teams are actively engaged with each patient, building relationships and providing education to each patient throughout the shift. Responsibilities:
Handle stressful and demanding situations with compassion, patience and a deep level of concern for others. Good communication skills are essential, even when the other party is confused, upset, uncooperative, or irritable. Strong observations skills, high sense of awareness to your surroundings and changes with the patients. Dedication, dependability and a certain degree of humility are required, since a BHT must be able to take orders, report to supervisors, and work on routine or even repetitive tasks daily. To succeed you must be able to put routine or repetitive services in perspective and focus on the greater positive effects they bring. Collaborate with all members of the health care team with a focus on promoting evidence based care within a healing culture for the patient population served and their families.
Job Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent or minimum score of Bronze on the Career Readiness Certification ( CRC ) certificate. If interested in obtaining CRC register as a Job Seeker at www.

Licensure:
Current Arkansas nursing assistant certification preferred. Minimum of one (1) year Psychiatric experience is preferred. BLS required. Safety Care Certification required in the first 3 months of employment.
Other:
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.
