Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) - Night Shift Important - Please Read Before Applying Applicants cannot be considered for hire or interview unless they already have the following: In-person CPR & First Aid Certification Current TB Test Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Must be 18 years of age or older Position Overview Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) provide direct support services to individuals receiving substance use and/or mental health treatment. The Night Shift BHT plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment during overnight hours through client supervision, facility monitoring, documentation, and crisis response as needed. This position requires strong observation skills, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to remain alert and responsive throughout the shift. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Conduct required client safety and wellness checks throughout the night Monitor the facility to ensure a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment Observe and document client behaviors, concerns, incidents, and significant events Complete required overnight documentation, logs, and reports accurately and on time Respond appropriately to emergencies, crises, and client needs during overnight hours Report client concerns, incidents, and observations to clinical and administrative staff Maintain awareness of client whereabouts and facility activity throughout the shift Monitor medication documentation and related records as assigned Assist with facility cleanliness, organization, and shift responsibilities Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and facility policies Support a calm and structured environment that promotes client safety and recovery Qualifications & Skills Ability to treat clients with dignity, respect, and empathy Strong verbal communication and active listening skills Excellent observation skills and attention to detail Ability to remain alert, attentive, and professional during overnight hours Comfortable using computers, tablets, and mobile applications Willingness and ability to learn documentation standards and electronic record systems Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment Prior experience in behavioral health, mental health, residential treatment, healthcare, security, or a related field is preferred but not required Additional Information Night Shift includes periods of downtime; however, staff are expected to remain awake, attentive, observant, and available at all times. This position is ideal for individuals who are dependable, self-motivated, and capable of maintaining a safe environment with limited supervision.
