Job Description

Our behavioral health residential facility provides structured, supportive care for adults experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The program is designed to promote recovery, stability, independent living skills, and overall wellness in a safe and therapeutic environment. Staff work collaboratively to support residents through daily routines, treatment participation, medication management, recovery support meetings, and life skills development. The facility emphasizes compassion, accountability, professionalism, and client-centered care while maintaining compliance with behavioral health regulations and HIPAA standards.
Position Title:
Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Position Overview The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for providing direct care and supervision to adult residents receiving treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders. The BHT will assist clients with daily living activities, monitor client safety and behaviors, facilitate therapeutic and recovery-based activities, administer medications as assigned, and maintain accurate and timely documentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, crisis intervention abilities, and a commitment to supporting individuals in recovery.
Schedule Monday-Friday:
5:00 PM - 11:00 PM Additional available hours:
Saturday-Sunday:
7:00 AM - 11:00 PM Essential Responsibilities Monitor and supervise residents within the facility to ensure safety and program compliance Administer medications in accordance with facility policies and procedures Facilitate psychoeducational and recovery-focused group sessions Transport clients to scheduled appointments, court appearances, community outings, and AA/NA meetings Conduct hourly bed checks and safety checks Document all client encounters, incidents, behaviors, and interventions accurately and professionally Complete all required shift documentation and notes before the end of each shift Assist residents with life skills development, including: Meal preparation Budgeting Hygiene and self-care Daily routines and organization Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients throughout treatment Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques when responding to behavioral or emotional crises Communicate effectively with clinical staff, nursing staff, and supervisors regarding client concerns or behavioral changes Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information Support a therapeutic, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, or a related field High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred Current Fingerprint Clearance Card required Knowledge of behavioral health practices, substance abuse recovery, and mental health disorders Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques Ability to maintain professionalism in high-stress or sensitive situations Strong documentation and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Must adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of medical records and client information Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build rapport with clients in recovery Excellent time management and organizational skills Ability to complete documentation accurately and within required timeframes Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor Ability to remain calm and effective during crisis situations Understanding of ethical boundaries and confidentiality standards

From $16.00 per hour
