Job Description The Behavioral Health Technician supports clients throughout their daily treatment activities while helping maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment. This position works closely with clinical, medical, and case-management staff to monitor client needs, document services, and support the overall operation of the residential program. Responsibilities Supervise and support clients within the residential treatment environment. Observe and document client behavior, participation, and changes in condition. Promptly report medical, psychiatric, behavioral, or safety concerns. Observe clients' self-administration of medications according to prescriber instructions and facility policies. Accurately document and update Medication Administration Records (MARs) following each medication observation. Complete scheduled medication counts and reconcile medications with the MAR and inventory records. Immediately document and report medication refusals, missed doses, discrepancies, errors, or adverse reactions according to facility procedures. Maintain proper medication storage, security, inventory, and documentation. Assist with medication ordering and refills as permitted by facility policy. Obtain and document vital signs after completing required training. Complete COWS, CIWA-Ar, or CIWA-B monitoring when trained and authorized. Coordinate medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments. Conduct safety checks, facility rounds, and client counts. Support clients in following program schedules, rules, and treatment expectations. Collaborate with clinical, medical, administrative, and case-management staff. Maintain accurate and timely client documentation. Protect client confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries. Respond appropriately to emergencies and complete required incident reports. Perform other duties consistent with the position, training, and qualifications. Schedule This position requires flexibility to work day, evening, or overnight shifts. The employee will generally have a regular assigned schedule but may be assigned to another shift when coverage is needed. Applicants must be available for more than one shift. Qualifications Current RADT registration or recognized California SUD counselor registration or certification, such as SUDRC or RAC. High school diploma or equivalent. Residential treatment, substance use disorder, or behavioral health experience preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately to challenging situations. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and availability for the assigned schedule. Ability to pass required background and preemployment screenings.
