Job Description
Behavioral Health Technician, Lead

Durango, CO Position Summary:
The primary role of the Behavioral Health Technician Team (BHT), Lead is to oversee unit operations and to deliver supervision to the staff assigned. This position is also responsible for providing direct client care to clients as needed with substance use/alcohol use-specific therapy. The BHT, Lead is responsible for oversight of all documentation, program changes, and ensuring that staff are following all Axis Health System programming and policies.
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate for our BHT, Lead position will have a high school or GED diploma, be CAT certified, and have 2 years of experience in a crisis stabilization unit with withdrawal management or in a detox setting or experience in a SUD program. A bachelor's degree is preferred, in addition to a CAS or LAC license. Two to three years of experience in a CSU, withdrawal management or detox setting with prior supervisory experience and peer certification is also preferred.
Salary:
Starting at $21 (18.50 base + $2.50 locale = $21.00) to $23.72 per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred certification as described above.

Required Skills:
Knowledge of mental health medications and mental health diagnoses preferred. Knowledge of diverse issues including mental illness, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, TBI, dementia and developmental disabilities. Knowledge of community mental/physical health resources and their eligibility criteria and provide rapid linkage to treatment providers. Communicate confidential information only as required to perform job responsibilities. Working knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Pt 2. Working knowledge of involuntary mental health holds (2CCR 502-1.27-65), and alcohol and drug Emergency Commitments (EC) and Involuntary Commitments (IC). Ability to follow established universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately. Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax, and multi-line telephone. Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability to access the internet. Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while concurrently respecting corporate policies, procedures, and priorities. Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers. Ability to communicate job-related information to individuals and small groups. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting. Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to concentrate in sometimes hectic and stressful settings. Ability to read and understand written materials. Must regard work as confidential. Must have current driver's license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance, and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS' insurance agency. Ability to occasionally work beyond normally scheduled hours. Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
Additional eligibility requirements:
Annual Flu immunization, Annual TB screening, De-escalation training within 90 days of hire, BLS upon hire, and Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) certified.
