No The Mental Health Patient Care Technician Responsibilities:
Provides direct care to psychiatric inpatients under the supervision of a licensed nurse in a dual-role capacity that combines the responsibilities of a Patient Care Technician and Mental Health Technician. Supports patient safety and well-being through continuous monitoring and observation, fosters therapeutic communication and positive patient relationships, and assists with activities of daily living and basic physical care. Performs additional validated skills and duties as delegated by a licensed nurse in accordance with organizational policies and competency requirements
Required Certification/Licensures:
BLS (Basic Life Support) CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred Patient Care Technician - preferred
Required Education:
High School or Equivalent Currently Enrolled Nursing OR Technical Certified Nursing Assistant.
Required Experience:
Six (6) months of acute care experience; One (1) year of Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience; Completion of a BayCare-approved Nurse Assistant or Patient Care Technician (PCT) program Completion of the BayCare PCT Boot Camp for candidates who have attended a Nursing Assistant program but lack clinical hands-on patient care experience Successful completion of Nursing Fundamentals within an RN or LPN program Current EMT certification or Paramedic license (Emergency Department positions only). If the candidate does not have experience or training in sterile technique, urinary catheter insertion and removal, or IV saline lock removal, the BayCare PCT Course and all required competencies must be successfully completed within ninety (90) days of hire
