MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN
(MHT - Entry-Level Direct Care)

Hollywood, Florida Full-time and Part-time Florida Palms Academy is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment facility specifically designed for Elementary and Middle School aged children who can benefit from intensive psychiatric services. Florida Palms Academy is a national award winning program that was established to help children with their clinical and educational needs in a safe and secure environment. We encourage students to explore their emotional issues under close clinical supervision, all whilst providing a superior academic environment. Every child is unique and we believe that success and growth comes from encouragement and praise. Requirements:
High School graduate or equivalent required A minimum of one year of MHT/ direct care experience Associates or Bachelor's Degree with no experience. Must have an active valid driver's license. Must possess basic computer skills. Electronic health records preferred, but not required. Experience working in a therapeutic residential facility Applicants must be able to pass City, County and Federal background checks (FDLE) and a Child Abuse History Clearance (if required). The candidate must pass a TB and Drug Screening Schedules Monday-Friday 3-11pm Saturday-Sunday 7a-3pm Saturday-Sunday 3p-11pm
Job Summary:
Mental Health Technicians provide supervision and direction to emotionally, mental and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents (aged 6-15) in a compassionate and respectful manner.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure a safe and secure environment. Act immediately to remove all dangers or threats to the welfare of our clients and know the whereabouts of all children in your care. Demonstrate skills in the areas of relationship building, appropriate boundaries and role modeling with children. Demonstrate care, compassion, respect, integrity, truthfulness and ethical behavior with children as well as interactions with other staff members. Supervise daily routines and responsibilities of children and ensure performance of daily self care tasks assisting when necessary. Supervise the daily routines of the children in a supportive, professional manner. Utilize Verbal and Physical Interventions to ensure the safety of all clients Communicate all relevant client information obtained by daily Supervision to appropriate treatment team members on a timely basis. Complete all necessary documentation. Complete 40 hours of training per calendar year in accordance with all corporate and regulatory requirements. Understand and comply with all laws, regulations, and ethical practices. Understand the duty to report a belief of a violation of laws, regulations, standards and ethical practices.
