Join Our Mental Health Technician Program Marion Technical College is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) instructor to join our Mental Health Technician program. We are looking for a healthcare professional who can bring current clinical experience into the classroom and help prepare students for careers in behavioral health and related healthcare settings. The instructor will provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction while preparing students for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) examination and credentialing and Certified Mental Health Technician (CMHT) certification . Requirements Licensure:
Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the
State of Florida Education:
Associate degree in Nursing required; bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred
Experience:
Minimum of two years of relevant professional nursing experience
Clinical Background:
Experience in mental health, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, substance use treatment, crisis services, long-term care, community health, or a related healthcare setting preferred
Technical Skills:
Basic computer and instructional technology proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous teaching, training, precepting, or mentoring experience; experience with Canvas or another learning management system
Schedule:
Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; occasional Monday coverage may be scheduled based on program needs Overview of Responsibilities Provide engaging classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction aligned with Florida's Mental Health Technician curriculum framework. Teach and evaluate behavioral health concepts, therapeutic communication, patient care, safety, professional practices, and related clinical skills. Prepare students for the CNA examination and CMHT certification through instruction, skills practice, assessment, and remediation. Supervise and evaluate students during clinical learning experiences. Create and grade assessments and provide timely, individualized feedback and support. Monitor student progress and provide intervention or remediation when needed to support successful program completion and industry credential attainment. Utilize Canvas, Focus, Microsoft Office, and other instructional technology to manage course materials, grades, attendance, and student communication. Maintain current knowledge of behavioral health practices, healthcare standards, and applicable certification requirements. Collaborate with MTC faculty, staff, and clinical partners to support student success and program outcomes.
