Full Time Position Summary:
The Qualified Mental Health Staff (QMHS) position works as an integral part of the Lake County Jail's interdisciplinary team providing crisis intervention and mental health monitoring in the context of the individual and group.
Specific Duties Include:
Respond to mental health emergencies throughout the jail. Monitor individuals placed on close or constant suicide precautions. Collaborate with custody staff to ensure a professional, therapeutic environment. Provide mental health and/or alcohol and other drug treatment, crisis intervention and individual and group counseling support services to a diverse inmate population in a corrections environment. Provide appropriate recommendations for care to inmates requiring on-going treatment. Facilitate group activities in the mental health unit. Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary health care teams to ensure high quality patient care. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Required Education:
A mi nimum of bachelors level education and training in psychology, counseling, social work or psychiatric nursing, or five (5) years of comparable experience.
