Position is located at Birch Cottage, 6:00 am
- 2:00 pm, days/hours may vary.
This position requires you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.
All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion. The purpose of the Mental Health Developmental Disability Technician position is to provide direct services and support to people with developmental disabilities who live at PSH so that they can achieve personal growth and well-being, realize choice, attain full inclusion and celebrate their individuality.
The essential functions of this position require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Must be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.
Parsons State Hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Qualifications:
Preferred Criteria:
Completion of an established training program approved by Kansas Department of Children and Families, within one year of hire. Employees will be required to attend classes, complete assignments, and actively participate in required training courses.
Staff who operate a motor vehicle must possess an unrestricted Kansas driver's license.
Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
