This opportunity is for a Mental Health Technician . We are seeking FT and PT staff. FT staff work two weekdays and every other weekend (12-hour shifts). Day shift (7am - 7pm) or night shift (7pm - 7am). Full-time day and night shifts currently available. PT staff work one weekday and either Saturday or Sunday each week either 7am - 7pm or 7pm - 7am. Mental Health Technicians provide direct care to adolescent and/or adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient(s). Mental Health Technicians have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient's safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks including assistance with daily living activities, facilitation of skill-building groups, assisting in the intake and discharge process, and enforcement of hospital and unit rules intended to keep the patients, staff, and visitors safe. Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or Health and Human Services field strongly desired. If no degree, must have 3 years of work experience in a healthcare/behavioral health setting providing direct patient care.

Required Licensure/Certification :

CPR Certification preferred.

Required Skills :

Human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.

Physical Requirements:

Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform verbal de-escalation and non-violent physical crisis intervention. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
