The BHT plays an important role in supporting individuals receiving treatment for mental health and substance use disorders by providing direct care, supervision, encouragement, and assistance throughout the recovery process. As a BHT, you will work closely with clinical, medical, and nursing staff to help maintain a safe, structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment for our clients. Key Responsibilities Provide direct care, supervision, and support to clients in accordance with individualized treatment plans, facility policies, and established procedures. Monitor clients throughout the shift, conduct required safety and wellness checks, and promptly report changes in behavior, mood, presentation, or condition. Assist with client admissions, discharges, transfers, and orientation to the program. Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and other day-to-day needs as appropriate. Encourage client participation in treatment programming and assist with recreational, educational, and recovery-focused activities. Promote and reinforce facility expectations, treatment guidelines, boundaries, and safety protocols. Respond appropriately to behavioral crises, medical emergencies, and other incidents using approved de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention techniques. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and therapeutic treatment environment. Complete room checks, safety checks, contraband searches, and other assigned monitoring responsibilities in accordance with facility procedures. Follow infection prevention, safety, confidentiality, and emergency response protocols. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of client observations, incidents, activities, and other required information. Communicate effectively with nursing, medical, clinical, case management, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality at all times. Perform additional duties as assigned to support client care and facility operations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, or a related healthcare setting preferred. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire. Crisis prevention/intervention training such as CPI, PMAB, or equivalent preferred or willingness to complete required training. Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in challenging or crisis situations. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Must demonstrate compassion, professionalism, reliability, and respect when working with individuals in treatment.
