Job Description

Job Overview:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a key role in providing compassionate, direct care to individuals undergoing treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. BHTs assist with monitoring clients, supporting therapeutic activities, and ensuring a safe and structured environment during the recovery process.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide direct care, support, and supervision to clients in accordance with facility policies and individualized treatment plans. Assist clinical staff with admissions, discharges, and client transfers. Conduct routine client checks and monitor for safety, behavioral changes. Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed. Facilitate or assist in recreational activities, and educational sessions. Monitor client adherence to facility rules, safety protocols, and treatment guidelines. Respond promptly and appropriately to behavioral crises, medical emergencies, and incidents, including de-escalation and use of non-violent crisis intervention techniques. Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, including room checks, contraband searches, and infection control practices. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams (nursing, medical, and clinical staff) to support patient care goals.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred. Prior experience in a behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment setting preferred. Training or certification in CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention (CPI, PMAB, or equivalent) preferred.

Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
