UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Specialist II for the Inpatient/Children's Transitional Residency (CTR) within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the Mental Health Specialist II is to provide daily care and supervision to children residing in the Children's Transitional Residence. Provides Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training (initial and refresher). Provides oversight/training to ensure compliance with infection control in the food preparation/serve area in a child residential treatment setting and peer consultation/leadership in a residential milieu setting. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Implements recreational and therapeutic activities and trips appropriate to the children's age, abilities, and therapeutic needs. Monitors children 24 hours a day, including overnight visual checks. Intervenes effectively to maintain safety and security for children in crisis by using both verbal and physical crisis intervention strategies. Provides CPI training and oversight of CPI interventions used with youth (ages 5-11 years) in a therapeutic milieu. Provides collaborative oversight of Infections Control policy specific to food preparation area. Documents all unit activities in unit and communication logs.
