Position Summary The Medication Technician provides direct support in delivering medical and behavioral health services across. LifeHouse's residential and detoxification programs. Reporting to the Charge Nurse and Medical Director, this role involves assisting with the distribution of medication, monitoring vital signs, processing client intakes, and arranging transportation for medical needs. The Medication Technician works closely with nursing staff and supports teams to ensure safe, timely, and trauma-informed care in a recovery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Intake and Medical Support Assist with admission intake by gathering medical, psychiatric, medication, and substance use histories Record and monitor client vital signs using electronic or manual tools such as blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and pulse oximeters Read and document urine drug screen results in collaboration with nursing staff, Residential Treatment Assistants (RTAs), or Certified Peer Support Workers (CPSWs) Provide support and comfort during the intake and assessment process Medication Administration and Monitoring Assist nurses with medication administration, client monitoring, and delegated medical tasks in detoxification and residential settings Distribute medications to residential clients according to approved clinical protocols Monitor clients for changes in physical or behavioral health and report concerns to the nursing team Contact the on-call nurse when urgent medication or medical needs arise Client Transportation and Coordination Transport or accompany clients to medical or behavioral health appointments as assigned Assist clients in submitting and following up on medical requests Team Collaboration and Environment Oversight Work collaboratively with the nursing team, RTAs, and peer support staff to support safe, coordinated care Maintain a clean, safe, and recovery-focused environment Participate in client safety efforts, including assisting with team lifts of up to 75 pounds when necessary Training, Compliance, and Professional Conduct Complete all required training, including: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Incident Reporting Professional Boundaries Cultural Awareness and Competency Universal Precautions Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Mental Health First Aid

Position Requirements- Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medication Aide (CMA), or Medication Technician training Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or HeartSaver Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), or ability to obtain within six months of hire Must be at least 21 years of age Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24-hour residential setting and maintain professional boundaries Flexibility to work varying shifts, including 12-hour schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or residential care settings Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles Ability to remain calm, responsive, and supportive in crisis situations
