In accordance with the organization's mission, vision and values, the Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for assisting the counseling staff and client safety & security.The following duties will apply:
Duties:
Responsible for carrying out treatment planning in milieu. Facilitates activities of daily living, community meetings, and engagement. Assists therapists and primary counselors to intervene to help provide therapeutic interventions to foster resident's social, cognitive, and behavioral skill development. Provide transportation for clients to and from treatment related appointments or community activities. Interface with community support systems, agencies and families. Report to immediate supervisor any changes noted in any clients' medical condition, mental status or behavior and then document it on the appropriate paperwork when requested. Participate in general, staff, in-service and supervisory meetings held by the Agency. Assist clients in addressing issues and challenges by role-modeling appropriated responses. Assist in teaching the clients about personal care, household chores, daily living, community resources and safety awareness. Actively participate with the program team in completing proper daily maintenance of living areas including cleaning and maintaining an orderly environment. Assist with light cleaning. Complete shift checklist as assigned, including overnight checklist, if applicable to your shift. Assist clients with budget, grocery shopping and meal preparation as appropriate to treatment plan level of care. Support client in goal attainment. Esurance of safety and security of all clients, staff and facilities. Completion of med certification training and ongoing observations of self-administration of medications. Perform other duties and functions as directed. Other Skills/Knowledge and Experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with culturally diverse persons, staff and community service providers. Working knowledge of behavioral health issues. Comfort/ability to intervene in crisis/support de-escalation of struggling clients. Ability to multi-task, have good problem solving & time management skills and the ability to remain calm in crisis.Benefits
