The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Rehabilitation Technician

• Domiciliary Assistant. The Rehabilitation Technician
• Domiciliary Assistant will function within Social Work Service.

Responsibilities include completing safety, security, and privacy inspections, documenting observations, and initiating corrective actions such as work orders.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position.

Driver's License Requirement :

A current, valid state-issued Driver's License is required for this position.

• AND•You may qualify at the GS-5 level if you fulfill one of the following qualifications:•

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

I have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Rehabilitation Technician

• Domiciliary Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Specialized experience is experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist professional psychologists.

NOTE:

Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

EDUCATION:

I have successfully completed a full four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of subjects such as psychology, statistics, or other directly related subjects to the Rehabilitation Technician

• Domiciliary Assistant position.

COMBINATION:

I have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as listed above, to meet the total experience requirements. The education portion must include courses such as psychology, statistics, or other directly related subjects to the Rehabilitation Technician

• Domiciliary Assistant position.

Physical Requirements:

The work is active and is performed in a Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). Normal precautions are required when working with Veterans that have different mental health and recovery issues to include homelessness. The position requires emotional ability to deal effectively with multitasking, and a steady flow of patient care responsibilities as well as administrative responsibilities. This position involves bending, lifting and the ability to carry up to 30 pounds. May transport Veterans for job searches, housing searches, or access to social services using government vehicles. Requires a valid driver's license and medical clearance.
