Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / Mental Health Technician to join a behavioral health team at a Psychiatric Hospital in Terrell, TX. In this vital role, you will provide direct patient care and support within a psychiatric or mental health facility, ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of individuals experiencing mental health conditions. Responsibilities Monitor psychiatric patients continuously, observing behavioral changes and reporting significant findings to the clinical team. Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while ensuring proper documentation in medical records. Implement behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment. Support patients with daily activities, including hygiene, nutrition, and medication administration under supervision. Utilize physical restraint techniques when necessary to prevent harm to self or others, following established protocols. Document patient interactions accurately, including observations related to mental health status and behavior intervention outcomes. Respond promptly to medical emergencies using first aid and CPR procedures when required. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans focused on psychiatric care and behavioral health goals. Maintain compliance with hospital policies, confidentiality standards, and medical terminology requirements. Participate in training sessions related to crisis prevention, behavioral health interventions, and psychiatric patient care. Skills Proven experience in acute care settings within psychiatric hospitals or behavioral health facilities. Knowledge of mental health conditions, psychiatry principles, and substance use disorder treatment approaches. Proficiency in patient observation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques. Familiarity with physical restraint techniques and crisis prevention strategies. Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions across diverse populations. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to psychiatric care and patient monitoring. Experience with medication administration protocols within a psychiatric or hospital environment. Excellent client communication skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism at all times. Competence in maintaining accurate medical records and documenting behavioral health interventions. Ability to respond calmly during emergencies while adhering to safety protocols in behavioral health settings.
