Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a fulltime Certified Nurse Midwife at a thriving OB GYN group located 20 minutes south of the City of Chicago. In this position, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care within a hospital setting and ambulatory setting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality patient care, support labor and delivery processes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure positive outcomes for mothers and babies. As a Certified Nurse Midwife, you will be at the forefront of inpatient obstetric services, utilizing your clinical expertise to manage acute care needs, perform assessments, and contribute to family-centered care initiatives. Duties Provide direct patient care for women during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum periods in an inpatient hospital environment Conduct comprehensive GYN physical examinations for annuals and problem visits. Assist with labor management, including performing vaginal examinations, monitoring contractions, and supporting natural or assisted deliveries Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. Educate patients on family planning options, postpartum care, pain management strategies, and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home Skills Strong knowledge of obstetrics & gynecology (Ob/Gyn), physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology Proficiency in performing physical examinations, patient assessment, and monitoring vital signs Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and CPT coding for billing purposes Excellent patient care skills with a focus on family-centered approaches and pain management techniques Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for medical documentation and patient privacy protection Experience working in inpatient settings with acute care responsibilities; outpatient experience is a plus Capable of discharge planning, care coordination, and implementing treatment plans.
