The Music Therapist is responsible for developing and promoting a variety of music based lifestyle programs that encourage Resident engagement. The Music Therapist uses music interventions to assist Residents to explore their feelings and improve their emotional-wellbeing and problem-solving skills. The Music Therapist assist Residents with developmental and learning disabilities, and age-related conditions as well. The Music Therapist works in collaboration with all other departments to implement appropriate activities.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and coordinate Resident-centered music based programs Set up and take down of music related activities Plan special music based events for The Manor Villages Residents in coordination with other departments Involve families and friends where appropriate in programming Coordinator to keep the Manor Village vehicle clean and in safe working order Designing musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve Residents psychological, physical, and social health Providing music therapy sessions Inviting Residents to interact by encouraging them to sing and dance Monitoring Residents during musical interventions and measuring the effectiveness of sessions Recording and videotaping Residents on a periodic basis to measure effectiveness and progress Keeping records of Residents progress Conducting biannual assessments to re-evaluate Residents Maintaining musical instruments
