Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Location:
The facility is located in Farmington, a community of about 15,000 on the edge of the Ozarks with a low cost of living, good schools and many opportunities for outdoor recreation. Farmington has a small town's friendliness and charm while being only about an hour from St. Louis and all the amenities of a large city. Why you'll love this position: Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center (SMMHC), a JCAHO-accredited hospital, has opportunities for a Recreation/Music Therapist to provide therapeutic services to our clients. The hospital currently serves approximately 320 patients with an average length of stay measured in months to years. Our clients' ages range from early adulthood into their 80's, so there are a wide range of services to be provided. Responsibilities - What you'll do Job duties include, but are not limited to: Facilitation of recreation therapy or music therapy based groups with 2-15+ individuals that focuses on addressing treatment based goals assigned by the treatment team (Behavioral goals, educational goals, social goals, leisure goals, etc.) Facilitation of individual music therapy sessions with individuals that are appropriate for and would benefit from such services Clinical Documentation (documentation of services, treatment recommendations, incident reports various other documentation required) Accepting/denying music therapy referrals, and associated documentation Assisting in the supervision of interns Qualifications - All you need for success
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Music Therapy or Recreation Therapy Board Certification through the Certification Board of Music Therapists (CBMT) or American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
