A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The music therapist provides group, milieu, and individual therapy services on the inpatient psychiatric units with special consideration to theoretical approaches and evidence-based practice. The music therapist utilizes their specialized expertise to contribute to the individualized plan of care and meet the biopsychosocial needs of patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
(S): Bachelor's degree, Master's Equivalency (in progress or completed), or Master's degree (in progress or completed) from an AMTA (American Music Therapy) accredited institution required. Certification (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapy required. Three (3) months of related experience required PA Act 31 completion CPI and BLS required prior to orientation completion
