This position provides individual and group music therapy services to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and/or social, emotional, or behavioral needs. The Music Therapist uses evidence-based musical experiences to address individualized treatment goals related to communication, self-regulation, social skills, cognitive functioning, self-expression, self-esteem, impulse control, and overall quality of life. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a music therapy program approved by the American Music Therapy Association. Music Therapist-Board Certified credential (MT-BC). At least one year of experience working with children or adolescents in a mental health setting. Proficiency playing guitar, piano, drums, autoharp, and rhythm instruments. Ability to obtain and maintain required Act 33/34 and FBI clearances. Ability to travel throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Essential Responsibilities Plan and facilitate individual and group music therapy sessions based on each client's needs and treatment goals. Provide services at Wesley Family Services locations and through internal and external contracted programs. Use music therapy interventions to support emotional, behavioral, developmental, social, and communication skills. Assess client needs and identify goals for which music therapy is an appropriate intervention. Establish positive therapeutic relationships with clients and families. Monitor client responses and adapt interventions, activities, or schedules as needed. Provide behavioral guidance and intervention while maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Complete required attendance records, clinical documentation, and incident reports. Collaborate with families, treatment teams, schools, and community partners. Remain current with music therapy research and professional best practices. Maintain a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
