Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Music Therapist, where you will harness the power of music to promote healing, enhance mental health, and improve quality of life for diverse patient populations. In this vital role, you will develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans that leverage music-based interventions to support emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being. Your expertise will help foster a positive environment for patients across various settings, including pediatric, psychiatric, hospice, and neurodevelopmental care. This is a paid position committed to delivering impactful client-centered care through innovative music therapy techniques. Responsibilities Design and execute personalized music therapy sessions tailored to individual patient needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, chronic illnesses, or undergoing hospice care. Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions utilizing techniques such as art therapy, dance therapy, recreational therapy, and behavioral health strategies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate music therapy into comprehensive treatment plans for patients with mental health conditions or neurodevelopmental disorders. Maintain detailed clinical documentation and accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and institutional policies. Conduct assessments to evaluate patient progress and adjust therapeutic approaches accordingly. Engage in client communication to foster trust, motivation, and active participation throughout the therapy process. Participate in outpatient programs and community outreach initiatives to promote awareness of the benefits of music therapy. Requirements Bachelor's or master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program; certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) is preferred. Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental health challenges, or chronic illnesses. Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and experience applying them within therapeutic settings. Familiarity with medical documentation standards, clinical documentation practices, CPT coding related to music therapy services, and HIPAA compliance. Ability to facilitate art therapy groups and conduct art therapy for children as part of holistic treatment plans. Experience working with pediatric populations and providing psychiatric patient care in outpatient or inpatient environments. Strong client communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care across diverse age groups and conditions. Additional experience in dance therapy, recreational therapy, dementia care, hospice support, or addiction counseling is advantageous.
