What they do

A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

Hour Expectations:

PRN Employee Caseload:
Children with a variety of needs/challenges; Older adults in long-term care; Adults with developmental challenges; Hospice. Caseload includes both Individual and Group Sessions NO Clinical Hours Required on Fridays for flexibility. Most employees work around 33-36 hours total weekly.
Compensation:
Paid as a w-2 Employee; Pay based on experience, starting rates listed below. $46/hr. Direct Clinical $17/hr. Admin and Training $16/hr. Travel + $0.50/mile reimbursement
Other Provisions:
Employees are covered under NAMT's professional and general liability insurance policies and worker's compensation policy. IPAD, Spotify account, mics, speakers, and all other supplies needed are provided. Employees are provided with a personal instrument bag to keep with them for frequently needed instruments and have access to a large instrument library as well to ensure they have a full range of professional and high-quality instruments to do their best work. Full time employees also receive $200/year towards maintaining their board certification. Part time employees receive $100/year towards maintaining their board certification.

The Job Description:
North Austin Music Therapy is looking for an energetic, passionate, individual to join our amazing team of therapists. We focus mainly on older adults, children, and teens with a variety of special needs, individuals with neurological impairments, and hospice. We are big on incorporating a wide variety of quality instruments into each session and keeping paperwork to a minimum to allow each therapist the chance to focus mostly on the clinical work itself. As a company, we build long-term relationships with clients and facilities and believe in strong communication between parents and therapists to ensure goals met in clinical sessions are being generalized. We are seeking a highly-qualified therapist who can work independently and is excited to be part of a dynamic company. Monthly team meetings and periodic check-ins provide on-going support. We offer above average pay rates and a flexible schedule. This position is open and will remain open until we find the right fit. Employees work independently on a day-to-day basis, but regular team meetings and check-ins ensure each employee has clinical support. Team support is there to address challenging clinical situations, share creative ideas and enjoy what we do together.
