What they do
A Music Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving music, instruments, and sound. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description
- Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Expressive Therapist is responsible for providing expressive therapy services to patients, as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Specific Job Functions:
- Complete activity therapy assessments.
- Provide group and individual expressive therapy sessions appropriate to client needs.
- Display professionalism in dealing with customers, staff and clinicians.
- Complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Complete documentation in a timely manner.
- Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in monthly activity therapy staff meetings.
- Attend and participate in weekly clinical supervision.
- Work with the interdisciplinary team in meeting treatment goals
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Bachelor's Degree in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or Recreation Therapy - REQUIRED
- Certification within the specialty may also be required at time of hire (MT-BC, ATR-BC, or CTRS)
