Duties Operate and maintain neurodiagnostic equipment such as electroencephalography (EEG) systems, electromyography (EMG), and other electrophysiology monitoring devices. Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures, ensuring proper placement of electrodes, and verifying patient comfort while adhering to aseptic techniques. Conduct specialized neurodiagnostic tests including EEG, EMG, and other neurophysiological assessments to evaluate brain activity, nerve function, and neurological health. Monitor patient vital signs continuously during testing sessions, ensuring safety and stability throughout procedures. Interpret diagnostic test results in collaboration with neurologists or neurophysiologists to assist in diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning. Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, patient responses, and technical observations within electronic health records. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory guidelines at all times during testing and patient interactions. Skills Strong knowledge of neuroanatomy, physiology, and neurological diagnostics to accurately perform and interpret electrophysiology testing. Proficiency in operating medical equipment related to electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and other neurodiagnostic devices. Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable for handling urgent cases effectively. Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to neurology and neurocritical care settings for clear communication with healthcare teams. Ability to monitor patient vital signs accurately using patient monitoring systems during procedures. Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during electrode placement and testing procedures. Demonstrated capability in diagnostic evaluation, electrophysiology testing, and interpretation of complex neurological data. Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tests efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
