Demonstrates knowledge of the equipment operator's manual and calibration procedures. Identifies and corrects basic equipment issues when they occur. Performs Neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate test strategy, electrode montage parameters, and calibration. Obtains all relevant information from the patient's medical record history and progress notes, and transfers this to the technologist's report. Adopts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results, based on medical history, clinical observations, and diagnostic test findings. Adheres to the standards of practice for test recordings, as outlined by ABRET. Maintains complete and accurate record keeping, including history forms and archived records of clipped data. Assists with the technical operation of specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures including long term monitoring, evoked potentials, intraoperative neuromonitoring and others as appropriate in specialty area. Verbalizes and implements appropriate actions during the onset of a seizure, and other patient medical emergencies. Demonstrates proper infection control practices throughout all aspects of care. Ensures hazardous materials are properly used and stored. Provides preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns. Participates in ordering and maintaining supplies for the department.
