PRN (As Needed) Job Overview Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist (PRN) to join our diagnostic imaging team. In this role, you will perform high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate advanced imaging equipment (gamma cameras, PET scanners), and ensure strict adherence to radiation safety standards.

Key Responsibilities Diagnostic Imaging & Therapy:

Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures and therapies per established protocols and physician orders.

Radiopharmaceutical Handling:

Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals intravenously or orally while adhering to all safety protocols and facility policies.

Patient Care & Screening:

Assess patient conditions, verify identification, screen for contraindications, and explain procedures clearly to patients and families.

Equipment Operation & QC:

Operate, calibrate, and perform routine quality control (QC) on imaging equipment (gamma cameras, PET scanners) to maintain NRC/state compliance.

Radiation Safety:

Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials; report and manage isotope spills per Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) protocols.

Clinical Accuracy:

Recognize disease abnormalities and physiological processes, adjusting imaging views as needed to optimize diagnostic accuracy.

Documentation & Compliance:

Document procedures, radiopharmaceutical usage, and patient interactions accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Protocol Support:

Collaborate with leadership, Radiologists, Cardiologists, and vendors to update scanner protocols. Maintain regular, reliable attendance and comply with all organizational standards and policies.

Qualifications Experience Required:

0-2 years of experience performing nuclear medicine procedures in a clinical or hospital setting.

Preferred:

2-4 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in an acute care hospital setting.

Licenses & Certifications Required:

Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state

Required:

(N) ARDMS or ARRT

OR NMTCB

Nuclear Medicine Tech Required:

BCLS

•Basic Life Support Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong proficiency in nuclear medicine imaging techniques, radiopharmaceutical preparation, and radiation safety. Deep understanding of NRC, state, and federal regulatory guidelines. Skilled in equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and image optimization. Excellent patient care, communication, and interprofessional collaboration skills. High attention to detail in EMR record-keeping and regulatory compliance.

License/Certification:

Radiologic Technologist license (Required) either ARDMS or ARRT or NMTCB license/certification (Required)
