In this role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using nuclear medicine techniques to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of physiology, medical imaging, and radiation safety protocols, ensuring high-quality patient care and accurate diagnostic results. Responsibilities Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals accurately and safely, adhering to radiation safety procedures and aseptic techniques. Operate specialized medical imaging equipment, including SPECT scanners, PET scanners, CT scanners, and DEXA scan devices. Conduct diagnostic procedures such as PET scans, DEXA scans for bone density assessment, and other nuclear medicine imaging tests. Ensure proper patient positioning, comfort, and safety during procedures while providing clear instructions and compassionate care. Maintain detailed documentation of procedures within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Implement radiation safety protocols diligently to protect patients, staff, and oneself from unnecessary exposure. Collaborate with physicians to interpret images, perform diagnostic evaluations, and ensure optimal image quality. Operate picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) for storing, retrieving, and sharing medical images efficiently. Maintain technical proficiency with all medical imaging equipment through ongoing training and adherence to manufacturer guidelines. Assist in maintaining a clean and sterile environment following proper aseptic techniques during invasive procedures such as IV insertions. Qualifications Certification or licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by an accredited certifying body. Proven experience operating nuclear medicine equipment including SPECT scanners, PET scanners, CT systems, and DEXA scan devices. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles. Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions safely and effectively. Familiarity with radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation protection measures. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and reporting. Strong understanding of medical imaging techniques related to nuclear medicine diagnostics. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about procedures clearly. Basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred or required depending on the facility's policies.
