Overview We are seeking a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our healthcare team, supporting advanced diagnostic imaging services that enhance patient care and clinical outcomes. The ideal candidate will operate specialized medical imaging equipment, including SPECT scanners, PET scanners, and CT systems, to perform nuclear medicine procedures with precision and compassion. Responsibilities Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, following strict radiation safety procedures and aseptic techniques. Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment such as SPECT scanners, PET scanners, and CT systems to acquire high-quality diagnostic images. Perform DEXA scans for bone density assessment and assist with other diagnostic imaging procedures as needed. Implement radiation safety protocols diligently to protect patients, staff, and oneself during all procedures. Assist physicians with diagnostic evaluations by providing clear images and relevant physiological data. Maintain detailed documentation of procedures within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems accurately. Ensure proper functioning of picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) for image storage and retrieval. Educate patients about procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout the process. Adhere to all hospital policies regarding medical equipment operation, infection control, and patient confidentiality. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives related to nuclear medicine practices. Requirements Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from an accredited program; licensure or registration as required by local regulations. Proven experience operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment including SPECT scanners, PET scanners, and CT units. Proficiency in performing DEXA scans and familiarity with physiology relevant to nuclear medicine procedures. Knowledge of radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation protection measures effectively. Ability to perform IV insertions for radiopharmaceutical administration with skill and aseptic technique. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles. Experience with EMR/EHR systems for documentation; familiarity with PACS for image management. Basic life support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) are a plus. Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care. Demonstrated technical proficiency in operating complex medical imaging equipment.
