A Day in the Life of a
Nuclear Medicine Technologist:
Coordinate radio-pharmaceuticals for patient procedures. Explain the imaging procedure to patients Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures, operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging devices, and scintillation gamma cameras. Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies including imaging acquisition and processing and monitoring patient vital signs. Maintain a high standard of imaging and positioning to acquire a quality scan. Be able to demonstrate proficiency in operating the PACS Computer System. Maintain inventory of supplies and prepare and maintain records concerning radio-pharmaceutical receiving, dispensing and disposal.
Job Requirements:
Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (A.R.R.T.) with advanced certification in Nuclear Medicine or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (N.M.T.C.B.) or be a graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology and be registry eligible. If registry eligible upon hire, you must become registered within one year of employment and maintain registry while employed. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
