40 hours per week | Wednesday-Saturday
Dean's Professional Services is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled nuclear medicine professional with experience in PET, radiopharmaceuticals, patient care, and advanced imaging procedures who is committed to safety, accuracy, and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
Perform patient care activities within the professional scope of practice, including patient interviews, assessments, IV insertion, point-of-care testing, patient transportation, discharge, and patient education/confirmation.
Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to established safety and clinical protocols.
Safely screen patients and manage clinical and research evaluations for implanted devices to obtain imaging clearance.
Follow ALARA radiation safety principles, particularly when working with high-energy cyclotron- and generator-produced PET radiopharmaceuticals.
Monitor patients for signs of distress and respond appropriately to emergency situations, including assisting emergency response teams when needed.
Follow infection-control procedures and utilize sterile or aseptic technique when applicable.
Administer contrast media according to established standards and the six rights of medication administration.

Recognize examination findings requiring immediate clinical attention and communicate critical findings to the interpreting radiologist.
Perform nuclear medicine and PET examinations while ensuring appropriate imaging sites, positioning, annotation, and technical parameters.
Independently operate assigned nuclear medicine, PET, and hot lab equipment, including performing required quality assurance activities.
Perform CT procedures as assigned.
Ensure accurate and timely image transfer to PACS.
Maintain radioactive material safety, including monitoring, decontamination, and appropriate radioactive waste disposal.
Maintain clean, organized imaging rooms, dressing rooms, hot lab areas, and workspaces.
Stock, transport, and distribute supplies and monitor inventory as needed.
Accurately document patient information, procedures, incidents, variances, and required forms in accordance with departmental standards.
Maintain accurate patient, clinical, billing, and examination information in required systems.
Verify patient identity using approved identifiers and established best practices.
Support patient flow, on-time starts, room turnover, and overall departmental productivity.
Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
Complete verbal handoffs using SBAR and participate in shift reporting.
Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Assist with education and training of students, technologists, staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain required equipment and safety logs and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
Follow HIPAA, Joint Commission, ACR, state, and federal requirements.
Participate in continuing education, mandatory training, departmental meetings, and safety initiatives.
Travel to off-site regional patient care facilities as needed.
Participate in rotational call coverage, emergency ride-out teams, and alternative shift coverage as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of imaging experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist/PET Technologist required.
ARRT(N) or NMTCB certification required.
Texas Medical Board (TMB) Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) license required.
CPR certification required.
PET certification preferred.
ACLS and
PALS/PEARS
certifications preferred.
Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program with clinical experience.
Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, PET principles, radiation safety, and imaging parameters affecting image quality.
Experience operating nuclear medicine, PET, hot lab, and related imaging equipment.
Strong understanding of patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, and radiation safety requirements.
Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Ability to demonstrate flexibility with patient care demands, including rotational call coverage and alternative shift assignments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality diagnostic imaging.
