Position Responsibilities The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered anesthesia care across a variety of clinical settings.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing comprehensive patient assessments and developing anesthesia care plans Administering anesthesia and monitoring patients throughout surgical and procedural care Continuously monitoring vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry in accordance with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) guidelines Recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation Protecting patient confidentiality and safeguarding information in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards Demonstrating professionalism, ethical conduct, compassion, and accountability in all patient interactions Participating in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development activities Collaborating effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program Completion of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist training program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs Experience Prior CRNA experience preferred but not required New graduates are encouraged to apply Credentialing Requirements All APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must: Be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a Yale New Haven Health System hospital Successfully complete medical staff credentialing requirements Licensure and Certifications Candidates must possess or be eligible for: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification Current AANA certification Connecticut RN License Connecticut APRN License ACLS Certification DEA Registration Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to wear lead protection during fluoroscopy and X-ray procedures when required Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Ability to reach above and below shoulder height Ability to navigate patient care environments and assist with patient movement between anesthesia locations Join Our Team At Yale New Haven Health, you'll work alongside exceptional clinicians, utilize advanced technology, and be supported by a healthcare system committed to excellence in patient care and professional growth.
