Full Job Description Overview:

Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations in the outpatient setting. Evaluate and manage patients with common gastrointestinal conditions, including: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Dyspepsia, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Constipation and diarrhea, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Gastrointestinal bleeding and anemia, Colorectal cancer screening and surveillance needs. Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians. Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, pathology, imaging, and endoscopic findings. Monitor treatment effectiveness and coordinate appropriate follow-up care. Serve as a clinical resource to improve patient access to screening and surveillance colonoscopy services. Facilitate timely colorectal cancer screening in accordance with evidence-based guidelines. Support physicians by identifying patients appropriate for endoscopic procedures. Facilitate scheduling of colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and other GI procedures. Review patient histories, medications, risk factors, and pre-procedure requirements to ensure procedural readiness. Support care coordination across primary care, specialty care, and ancillary services. Partner closely with gastroenterologists to improve clinic efficiency and optimize patient throughput. Contribute to implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives. Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards Regular and prompt attendance Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program Required OR Completion of an accredited physician assistant training program Required NPC
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner Required and Licensure with the state of Alabama as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse Required or Licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within 60 Days Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
