This is a full-time, primary care-focused role within an academic medical environment serving a diverse patient population. As nurse practitioner or physician assistant, you will provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services and will work closely with faculty attending physicians. This role offers strong clinical support, with readily available physician supervision and support for clinical questions, complex cases, and ongoing professional development. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality outpatient primary care to adult patients in an IM setting Conduct patient evaluations, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions Order and interpret diagnostic tests; develop and implement treatment plans Provide preventive care and health maintenance counseling Collaborate closely with faculty attending physicians, residents, and multidisciplinary care teams Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record Participate in quality improvement and population health initiatives as appropriate Qualifications Licensed NP/PA eligible to practice in California Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a primary care setting strongly preferred Experience in a California managed care and/or public hospital environment is highly desirable Bilingual in Spanish required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based, academic clinical environment Strong commitment to patient-centered care and serving a diverse community Work Environment and Support Outpatient-only, primary care role (no inpatient responsibilities) Academic clinic with robust attending physician supervision Strong clinical backup and mentorship available for complex cases and clinical questions Collaborative, team-oriented practice model Schedule Full-time position Standard outpatient clinic hours Opportunity Overview Inpatient work at a teaching hospital Exposure to a learning environment with opportunity to attend teaching conferences to promote CME Flexible schedule Low stress, low acuity patients Collaboration/supervision by faculty hospitalists Patients who deteriorate are upgraded to another team Competitive compensation with estimated base salary range of $156,000 to $197,600 annually.
