Job Summary The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing medication management for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. As a key member of the interdisciplinary care team, the PNP develops and implements individualized treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and collaborates closely with therapists, case managers, medical providers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This role serves a diverse patient population across the lifespan and supports Symba Center's commitment to accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based behavioral health services. The PNP provides education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and medication management, while promoting recovery, wellness, and improved quality of life. Success in this position requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, cultural competence, empathy, and a commitment to delivering ethical and trauma-informed care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following and other duties as assigned: Oversees RNs, LVN, and MA's in everyday operational duties Ensure staff adhere to protocols set into place and make adjustments as needed Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications as appropriate. Provide psychotherapy and counseling services as needed. Schedule patient appointments for telehealth or in-person visits when applicable. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care. Educate patients and their families about mental health issues and available treatment options. Monitor and evaluate the efficacy of treatment, making adjustments to plans as necessary. Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations. Order relevant diagnostic laboratory and radiology tests based on medical diagnoses or presenting symptoms. Perform timely documentation in an electronic medical record system. Education and Experience This position requires the following education and experience: Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Psychiatry focus is required . A minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse and/or nurse practitioner in a psychiatric or mental health field is preferred . Certifications, Licenses, Registrations This position requires the following certifications, licenses, and/or registrations: Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is required . Other Qualifications Ability to work flexible hours, as required, including weekends and holidays.
