A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner provides mental health and nursing care to patients with psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. Diagnoses mental illness, develops treatment plans and prescribes medications. Teaches patient's family about the patient's condition. Works at hospitals with dedicated mental health unit, fully dedicated psychiatric hospital or in independent practice working from nursing homes and physicians' offices.

As we continue to grow our psychiatric services, we are looking for an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who is comfortable working across the lifespan, beginning at age 5 , and wants the flexibility of an hourly position with the support and stability of an established clinical practice. At Coastal, you can practice with independence without practicing alone. Our psychiatric providers work alongside therapists, our Care Team, and clinical leadership to provide thoughtful, coordinated care while maintaining their own professional judgment and autonomy. This is a W-2 employed position with flexibility, established referrals, administrative support, and the opportunity to grow into a larger or full-time role as our psychiatric program continues to expand. What You'll Do Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for clients ages 5 and older Assess, diagnose, and treat a range of mental health concerns across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans based on each client's age, developmental needs, history, symptoms, and goals Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications within your scope of practice Educate clients and, when appropriate, parents and caregivers about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, potential side effects, and ongoing care Collaborate with Coastal therapists to support coordinated treatment and continuity of care Coordinate with pediatricians, primary care providers, schools, specialists, and outside treatment providers when clinically appropriate Recognize when psychological testing, specialty treatment, additional assessment, or a higher level of care may be needed Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation Participate in clinical consultation and collaboration as needed What We're Looking For Active and unrestricted Connecticut APRN license Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Current DEA registration and prescribing authority 3+ years of post-graduate PMHNP experience required Experience providing outpatient psychiatric care across multiple age groups Strong experience and comfort treating children and adolescents, including children as young as 5 Knowledge of child, adolescent, and adult psychopharmacology Understanding of child and adolescent development and the role of family systems in treatment Strong clinical judgment and ability to assess appropriate level of care Excellent communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through A provider who values collaboration, relationships, and whole-person care Why Coastal?
