Predictable Weekday Schedule:
Primarily Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Low Initial Patient Volume:
Approximately 1-5 patients per day, allowing time for thorough patient care and relationship building
New Practice Location:
Opportunity to help establish workflows and contribute to the growth of a new outpatient practice
Collaborative Environment:
Work directly alongside a physician, RN, and MA
Outpatient Setting:
No traditional inpatient hospital rounding responsibilities
Clinical Variety:
Combination of primary care, chronic disease management, infusion services, patient education, and care coordination
Community Focus:
Opportunity to participate in community outreach and support patients with complex chronic disease Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient and infusion care to patients with sickle cell disease
- Conduct patient evaluations, physical examinations, medication reviews, and ongoing follow-up
- Collaborate with the physician to manage acute symptoms and complex chronic conditions
- Evaluate patients with pain, dehydration, anemia-related symptoms, infection concerns, and medication complications
- Order and review laboratory testing and diagnostic studies
- Prescribe and manage medications within scope of practice, including controlled medications when appropriate
- Support IV hydration, medication infusions, and other outpatient treatments
- Assess patients before treatment, monitor treatment response, and address adverse reactions or changes in condition
- Coordinate referrals and educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and preventive care
- Assist with patient outreach, overdue follow-ups, care coordination, documentation, and practice development during lower-volume periods
- Help maintain clinical supplies, emergency equipment readiness, and safe daily clinic operations
