Job Summary Our client is seeking a dedicated Pain Management Nurse Practitioner to join their team. The primary focus of this role is to evaluate and treat adult patients with acute and chronic pain conditions, conduct comprehensive new-patient consultations, and develop evidence-based pain-management treatment plans. Additionally, you will perform standard interventional pain-management procedures and manage pain medications following practice protocols. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and treat adult patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. Conduct comprehensive new-patient consultations, including medical-history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessment. Develop individualized, evidence-based pain-management treatment plans. Perform standard interventional pain-management procedures, including nerve blocks, epidural injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, and related procedures. Manage pain medications, including controlled substances when clinically appropriate and consistent with practice protocols. Review imaging, diagnostic testing, prior treatment records, and patient response to treatment. Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, procedural expectations, medication use, and ongoing pain-management strategies. Document patient encounters and procedures accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record. Coordinate care with nurses, clinical support staff, referring providers, and other pain-management physicians. Provide outpatient coverage only, with no call, inpatient rounding, or emergency-department responsibilities anticipated. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. Completion of an accredited residency program, typically in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology, Emergency Medicine, or another eligible specialty. Completion of an accredited Pain Medicine fellowship. Board certification in Pain Medicine strongly preferred and may be required based on state regulations. Active, unrestricted medical license in the state where coverage is provided, or eligibility for expedited licensure through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact. Active DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances in the applicable state. Current BLS and ACLS certifications, if required by the practice or procedural facility. Experience Demonstrated experience evaluating and treating acute and chronic pain conditions. Proficiency performing standard interventional pain procedures, including nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, and radiofrequency ablations. Experience using fluoroscopic guidance for interventional procedures. Ability to independently manage a busy outpatient pain-management clinic and procedural schedule. Skills Strong clinical judgment when reviewing imaging, diagnostic testing, medical histories, and prior treatment plans. Ability to develop comprehensive, evidence-based pain-management treatment plans. Effective communication and patient-education skills. Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, clinical support staff, and referring providers. Strong, timely, and accurate electronic medical record documentation. Additional Requirements Ability to adapt quickly to established workflows and work effectively in a temporary locum assignment.
