Job Description

Primary Care / Women's Health Nurse PractitionerJob Overview We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and efficient Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a strong interest or experience in Women's Health and Primary Care to join our growing outpatient medical practice. This is a fast-paced, patient-centered position with a heavy focus on women's health , preventive care, same-day visits, and primary care. The ideal candidate is confident working independently within their scope of practice, communicates exceptionally well with patients, and is comfortable managing a busy outpatient schedule. Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred. Women's health experience or a demonstrated interest in women's health is required. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive primary care and women's health services to adolescent and adult patients. Perform annual physicals, preventive visits, well-woman examinations, and routine follow-up care. Obtain detailed medical, gynecologic, menstrual, contraceptive, sexual, obstetric, and family histories as clinically appropriate. Provide contraception counseling , including education regarding oral contraceptives, patches, rings, injections, implants, and IUD options, with appropriate referrals when necessary. Counsel patients regarding family planning, pregnancy prevention, preconception health, and reproductive health. Evaluate and manage common women's health concerns, including irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, vaginal symptoms, UTIs, PCOS, perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, and other routine gynecologic concerns within scope. Perform and/or assist with Pap smears, STI testing, pregnancy testing, vaginal swabs, urinalysis, and other appropriate office-based testing. Provide breast health education and appropriately evaluate common breast complaints with imaging or specialist referral when indicated. Provide evidence-based counseling regarding menopause and hormone-related concerns within the provider's training and scope. Diagnose and manage common acute illnesses and chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, thyroid disorders, obesity, vitamin deficiencies, and other primary care conditions. Provide weight-management and lifestyle counseling when clinically appropriate. Evaluate same-day sick visits and determine when patients require emergency or specialty care. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies. Prescribe medications safely and appropriately in accordance with Illinois law and the provider's scope of practice. Provide telehealth visits when clinically appropriate. Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in eClinicalWorks (eCW) . Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with OB/GYN, endocrinology, cardiology, imaging centers, and other specialists. Educate patients clearly and compassionately regarding diagnoses, medications, test results, preventive care, and treatment plans. Maintain patient privacy, HIPAA compliance, infection-control standards, and high standards of clinical safety. Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow. Qualifications Active Nurse Practitioner license in Illinois . Current national NP certification. Current BLS certification. Women's health experience OR a strong demonstrated interest in developing a women's-health-focused practice. Primary care, family medicine, OB/GYN, women's health, urgent care, or outpatient experience strongly preferred. Bilingual strongly preferred. Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient environment with a high patient volume . Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Comfortable discussing sensitive reproductive, sexual, contraceptive, and women's health concerns professionally and without judgment. Excellent patient communication and education skills. Experience with eClinicalWorks or another EMR/EHR system preferred. Comfortable with phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, and routine outpatient procedures. Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete documentation and follow-up responsibilities efficiently. Reliable, professional, collaborative, and committed to excellent patient care. You should be comfortable transitioning throughout the day between annual physicals, women's health concerns, contraception counseling, chronic disease management, same-day sick visits, preventive care, and telehealth.
